Weekly Deep Clean

Your house needs an occasional deep clean, but saving it all for spring cleaning is overwhelming. If you let yourself get overwhelmed, you're not going to do all that needs doing. If I get overwhelmed, I have a hard time even starting! A bit of deep cleaning every week will make your spring cleaning a breeze.

Opening all the doors and windows to the room you're cleaning out will allow fresh air and sunshine into the room and give any dust you kick up a place to escape to. If it's really dusty, placing a fan facing out an open window to suck the dust out. After you're done cleaning, turn the fan off and let the room air out naturally for awhile.

Starting first week of January.

  1. Living Room Deep Clean Get rid of the last of the holiday mess! Move furniture, vacuum under & behind, take down drapes & launder, shake out rugs, dust everything, vaccuum under couch cushions and don't forget the ceiling. If you have furry pets, sprinkle some flea powder on rugs & uphulstery & let sit for a half hour or so and then vacuum it up. Make sure there is no one around to breathe in the dust when you do this!
  2. Bathroom Deep Clean Take down the shower curtain and any window curtains and take up the rugs, seat covers, etc. Launder them and hang them to dry, preferably in the sun. Take everything out from all cabinets. Vacuum and wipe inside and tops of cabinets. Wipe down front of all cabinets with 50/50 vinegar solution. Wipe off all cabinet contents with 50/50 vinegar solution or launder and put them back where they belong. Empty bathroom garbage & soak 50/50 bleach solution for a half hour then wipe out. Spray inside of shower, tub and sink with 50/50 bleach solution and let sit 30 minutes. Scrub shower, tub & sink with baking soda paste and a sturdy scrub brush. Wipe down outside of the toilet with 50/50 vinegar solution and scrub inside toilet with a brush. Vacuum bathroom floor taking special care in the corners.
